Hmm, interesting, sounds like my title is pretty coolio! What about a Seer of Life, how would that work?
Some may instantly jump to the conclusion that a Seer of Life would simply be able to detect life nearby, but the role of a Seer, as we’ve seen, doesn’t seem to merely be to see in the least.
A Seer, rather than simply seeing their aspect, sees the future/past in relation to their aspect. Terezi sees the future consequences of people’s thoughts and decisions, Rose sees which path would lead to the most desirable outcome, and Kankri/the Signless saw the past of the blood caste system. As such, while they still might be just as capable of fighting as their coplayers, they should eventually grow into a more passive role, conducting the actions of their coplayers to insure that the future they see is (or is not in the case of, for example, a Seer of Doom) realized.
There also always seems to be a more obvious element of irony to a Seer’s title than to that of most other classes. Terezi, obviously, is blind. Rose’s interests are grounded primarily in the occult and the zoologically dubious, making Light a questionable aspect for her. Kankri views all trolls as equals, and does to some extent refuse to see the biological differences between different blood castes. Interestingly, there also seems to be a bit of a role reversal with Terezi and Rose, albeit with more literal meanings - Rose takes an interest in psychology, making her a bit of a “Seer of Mind” herself, and the last thing Terezi saw was the blinding light of the Alternian sun, which does make her something of a “Seer of Light” in her own right. Probably doesn’t really mean anything; just an interesting fact.
As a result of the aforementioned irony, Seers often have more trouble growing into their roles than most other classes. Rose spent all of her time messing in the affairs of the Horrorterrors and, rather than taking the passive role that is ideal for a Seer, ripped her planet to shreds, thinking that was the only way to “win”, effectively blinding herself from victory and Light, eventually leading to her descent into Grimdarkness, engulfing herself in the absence of light. However, this might not necessarily apply for all Seers since Terezi adapted to her role quite easily. On the other hand, this may simply be a result of the Scratch, as it has been said that a Scratch always produces a more favorable outcome. Ease of adaptation may just be a part of that. It has also been said that Kankri’s attempts to conduct his coplayers’ actions (as a Seer is meant to do) were unsuccessful; he made an attempt to adapt to his title, but ultimately failed until after the Scratch.
Seers also seem to retain some of their memories from the other end of a Scratch, as seen with the Signless’s memories of Beforus and Roxy’s Mom’s memories of Caliborn/Lord English in Complacency of the Learned (which, since Rose is still making new memories, will count as a pre-Scratch memory). As for Terezi, we can’t really say if she’s exhibited any signs of remembering her life as an adult troll on Beforus, since we know nothing about Latula’s ancestor. If she does not, we can assume one of three things: they only retain their memories if they were kids pre-Scratch, their memories are only unlocked as adults, or this entire line of reasoning is bullshit.
Aradia has said that fully realized Seers have a comprehensive knowledge of their aspect. It is safe to assume that if Terezi had reached God Tier, she would, while still not able to actually read minds, be able to take a pretty good guess due to her comprehensive knowledge of Mind. Of course, she would still retain the ability to see the consequences of decisions. These two sub-aspects of the Seer, Knowing and Seeing, vary in individual importance depending upon the aspect. For Terezi, the ability to deduce and probably manipulate thoughts would be invaluable to ensure that her coplayer’s decisions go down the path that she sees, making the Knowing sub-aspect more valuable. For Rose, the ability to guide her team down the route to victory and fortune is definitely more important than knowing how luck works, making the Seeing sub-aspect more valuable. As for Kankri, if we assume that Blood translates to “bonds”, Seeing and Knowing would both be equally important; Seeing would help him see which bonds are worth making, Knowing would help him make those bonds.
Now, there are certain limitations on what a Seer can and cannot see. It’s very vague what these limitations actually are, but from what I can understand, a Seer only sees certain relevant snippets. Think of it as a series of books chronicling the history of the world in your head, except instead of history, it’s stuff that hasn’t happened yet. They obviously wouldn’t contain each and every little action that occurred (or will occur, rather) ever, but they would contain relevant information - enough to assist your coplayers. Still, Seers, being naturally inquisitive as a general rule, will normally become curious about what led to these relevant events, and will, through other resources and deduction, be able to piece together a more complete picture as Rose is doing on the meteor. This healthy curiosity can be a good thing, but don’t let it distract you from the purpose of the game. Your coplayers need their Seer to help them in the creation of your universe.
Relevant to the Seer’s inquisitive nature are their actions in the Medium. Seers have been shown to do a lot of productive fucking around. Terezi has even said “TH3R3 1S NO PL4N TH4T DO3S NOT 1NVOLV3 FUCK1NG 4ROUND BUT W3 W1LL M4K3 SUR3 4LL OF OUR FUCK1NG W1LL B3 4PPL13D 1N 4 CONSTRUCT1V3 D1R3CT1ON”. This is further evidenced by the quote from this page: “While the KNIGHT OF BLOOD charges ahead, the SEER OF MIND remains behind to unravel the mysteries of the LAND OF THOUGHT AND FLOW.” This quote also illustrates the direct-and-to-the-point nature of Knights, but that’s a story for another evaluation. Rose also spent most of her time finding out how the game works and updating her walkthrough, leaving the more immediately important aspects of the game, such as house building, severely neglected. The constructive part is the result of this fucking around. Rose’s curiosity led to the discovery of several important plot points, perhaps the most important being The Green Sun. Again, the trolls’ session is not elaborated upon much, but Terezi’s exploration of LOTAF led to a partial awakening of her Seer of Mind abilities, which were important in ensuring that Jack didn’t find the meteor. Kankri’s constructiveness isn’t elaborated upon, but it’s obvious that quite a bit of fucking around took place considering that the session he led lasted for three solar sweeps.
Doc Scratch has taken an interest in all of the Seers, speaking directly to Rose and Terezi, and telling the Sufferer’s tale to the Handmaid. Whether this is true for all intelligent First Guardians is unknown; Bec certainly didn’t seem to care about Rose. Still, the connection is unmistakable. Perhaps it is the magic cue ball that is his ectoparent. Oracles seem to take as much interest in Seers as Seers take in oracles.
Lastly, Seers are the only players directly cognizant of commands from Exiles. They perceive them as voices rather than as inexplicable urges as their coplayers do. Depending on the nature of the Exile who takes interest in you, this could be incredibly useful, utterly pointless, or completely detrimental.
Life players, apart from driving the health vial back into the vitality gel, always seem to play some role in keeping their coplayers alive after death, and not always simply by directly bringing them back to life. Feferi spoke to the Horrorterrors and convinced them to create the Dream Bubbles to keep them alive, which played into Meenah’s role in keeping her coplayers alive by, ironically yet appropriately, killing all of them. Jane… I’m not sure about her yet. Dirk has kind of been the conductor of the “making sure shit doesn’t go wrong” train thus far, while Jane has really been like a penny on the track of the thing I just said. Hell, she’s lucky if she can keep herself alive, let alone her coplayers. Still, I’m sure she’ll redeem herself at some point. Maybe she’ll bring all of the trolls back to life from their blood, or maybe she’ll use the pumpkin lanterns to revive Jake’s dreamself. But I digress.
A Seer of Life would be able to see what paths would keep as many coplayers alive as possible, or at least the relevant parts of those paths. They would also have a comprehensive knowledge of Life (the interpretation of that is up to you). They would be able to hear the commands of Exiles and would be extremely inquisitive and thorough, perhaps a bit excessively so. They would probably also find some way to make sure that if and when their coplayers die, they don’t really.

I haven’t been feeling very well as of late. So I haven’t been posting as much art (sorry!). However, to my surprise, I discovered that Hulu has quite the impressive selection of anime and have been watching a lot of Fruits Basket. It’s like my elementary/middle school self is crying.
